Radioactive Sources
Eberline Services has commercially manufactured radioactive check sources and standards for more then 40 years. Through the process of electrodeposition, each source is uniformly coated with radionuclides on metallic substrates. Each source's level of activity is highly controlled, assuring years of quality use. We offer many matrices for delivery, including

High-Quality Source Fabrication
To ensure adherence to nickel and stainless steel substrates, Eberline Services prepares the surface of each source with precision. The substrate is carefully cleaned, followed by a high-quality final polish. Through many years of scientific research, platinum electrode plating cells have been developed for manufacturing the sources. Several different types of cells are required for the variety of radionuclides and source configurations. Eberline Services utilizes proprietary processes to fix the surface activity, retain uniform distribution, and minimize both self-absorption and degradation of the spectrum.

Other fabrication methods have also allowed the development of complete sets of calibration and check sources. Gamma ray sources are assembled through either single or double encapsulation. Beta sources with high energies can be supplied under thin mylar lamination. Other isotopes can be directly deposited on the substrate and heat treated for fixation. Each source or source set is stored in an easy-to-open wooden box.

Wide Range of Sources Available
Eberline Services offers final source products in several sizes, shapes, and activity levels. Clip-mounted sources are also available for attachment to probes and detectors from portable monitoring instruments.

Source sets are available for specific applications. Alpha and beta sources are provided in sets of two to four each with activity rates appropriate for calibrating certain radiation monitors. Other sets provide combinations for alpha, beta, and gamma radiation.

Eberline Services specializes in responding to customized and unique source requirements. Electroplated stable and radioactive isotopes have been prepared for accelerators, radiobiological dosimetry, and biochemical polymerization studies.

Quality Assurance
Eberline Services has a rigid quality assurance program that ensures the production of accurate and precise sources. The calibration of Eberline Services' sources and standards is traceable to the U.S. Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) by both explicit and implicit measurement and intercomparision.

Eberline Services' calibration detectors have more than 14 years of continuous traceability to the NIST. Specific Manufacturing Procedures and Sealed Sources and Devices Specifications Sheets are prepared for each specific source type. These documents are an integral part of Eberline Services' quality assurance program, which is routinely audited by nuclear utilities, national laboratories, and several government agencies. Radionuclides used in the production of sources are of the highest radiochemical purity to ensure specific activities with minimal degradation.
